The useful question is not only ‘What does a render cost?’ but ‘What needs to be created to produce this image?’ A single room built from a finished 3D model is a very different assignment from modelling and visualising an entire development.
Indicative South African ranges
Published local pricing guides place simple architectural renders at roughly R2,500 to R10,000 per image, medium-complexity work around R10,000 to R25,000, and premium photorealistic work from approximately R25,000 upward. These are broad market indicators rather than a CT3DR price list.
A set of views can sometimes be more cost-effective than one isolated image because the same model, materials and lighting setup are reused. Animation, very large developments and specialist product work are normally quoted separately.
What affects the quote?
The biggest pricing factor is the amount of work behind the final frame. If clean plans, elevations, schedules and a usable model are supplied, production can start further along. If the visualiser must interpret incomplete information or build everything from scratch, the scope grows.
- 3D modelling required from plans or sketches
- Interior styling, custom furniture and detailed landscaping
- Number of final camera views and output resolution
- Animation length or interactive deliverables
- Number of revision rounds and speed of turnaround
- Complex materials, night scenes and large environments
How to get a useful quote
Send the visualiser as much project information as possible: plans, elevations, a site plan, material references, an existing model and examples of the desired mood. Also identify the exact views, deadline and intended use.
A clear brief allows the studio to separate essential production from optional enhancements and provide a quote that is easier to compare. The least expensive image is not always the best value if it cannot support the approvals, marketing or sales purpose of the project.
A professional quote should explain what is included, how feedback will be handled and what the final deliverables will be. For an accurate CT3DR estimate, share your project drawings and required views rather than relying only on a per-image average.
